Hey dude been seeing you a lot in the game development forum so I decided to check your profile out haha I see you don't have any games here - does that mean you are in the middle of making your first game? You seem to know quite a bit for someone that doesn't have a game up here lol

Hope you had a kick ass break away from school playing tons of video games - I spent my time working on a few flash games I'm making while still making time for video games haha Started the new school quarter this past Monday and it's already sucking up all my free time >_<

Lastly, in your post you said "doing some personal programming jams" - what in the heck is that exactly? :P

lol well, i used to have a game up here tbh but it was an EMBARRASSMENT

i decided to take it down and not post any games until i'm satisfied with how it came out. i've just never been satisfied enough to finish development on another game so far haha. i've been programming in AS3 for approx. 2 years, so i guess you could say i'm upper intermediate? idk really, i just like programming heheh. i'm working on a desktop game atm, so sadly i wont be uploading anytime soon (unless i decide to port it to web) but after this game's done i wanna make something simple and fun to upload here

and thanks, i had (and am still having) the kick assiest break anyone could ask for lol. i did the same as you really, worked on my current game project, played a good amount of video games that i've been dying to play. i beat like 3 so far, so i think i had a good haul ! sorry to hear that you've been abducted by school already lmao
school is a pain, i know

oh, and by programming jams i just meant like programming together or something, lol. you know, like through teamviewer or skype audio chat or whatever :>

edit: nice games btw :)

Haha I'm sure it wasn't that bad :P Gotta start somewhere lol

Dude that's awesome I've been programming for 1 year now in AS3. I still have sooo much more to learn though... Currently working on 3-5 much bigger projects than the games I currently have up here. Yeah it may be awhile till they are finished since I keep bouncing back and forth between projects....at least I am never burnt out or bored on a project lol XD

I know what you mean though about never being satisfied enough to development on another game tho.... My problem is that I make a ton (ok maybe not a ton but a lot) of small, very simple games to help teach myself now code/techniques but I never want to upload them because they are kinda crappy or more like prototype-esque games.... I'll tell you a secret though that I haven't told anyone else before (well...here on NG lol) I decided to create a 2nd account to upload those very small, less than stellar games.....I just want to show people and get feedback (the extra revenue off ads can't hurt either). Shhhh tho.... It's a secret. I don't think anyone will every find out who I am through this second account tho haha

That's sick you are making a desktop game dude! Are you planning to try and get it greenlit on Steam? Or sell it in anyway? I'm just assuming you are as I am unaware of anyone ever making a desktop game for free....is that a thing? lol

Well dude I'll see you around in the forums! Good to know you got a year's worth of skill on me so you can help me in the forums if I get lost in code that is beyond me haha

you're probably right lol. i just didn't really like it after a while, haha

nice! don't worry, you'll learn fast. everytime i program in AS3 i seem to learn something new, so i'm sure i have my fair share of things to learn as well, lol. same here btw, i have like 4 projects that are still unfinished :P

that's really good! making small games to teach yourself, i mean. you should post some of them to your hero101 account so when you DO get better, people will see how far you've come. of course, that's not necessary, but it might give aspiring programmers hope! i was too impatient to make small games like that lol, but i turned out well anyway thanks to users on the flash forum (before it became the programming forum) like Mintpaw, Diki, msghero and egg82. hell, before mintpaw came along, i didn't know how to even program in an IDE-- and that was some time last year! now i use flashdevelop with ease and i truly don't know how i ever lived without it, lol.

pfft, a desktop game is no big deal lol. it just requires AS3 and a liiiitle bit of knowledge about adobe AIR. i probably wont be able to put it on steam due to possible copyright issues, so yeah i'm making it for free :) it's based on a fighting game called "Under Night In-Birth" but i'm replacing characters with friends of mine (from a forum i frequent) and their original characters. it'll be mostly original, except the name is "Under Mcleod In-Biirth" because the forums i frequent are the mcleodgaming forums, heh. some of my friends from there are helping me develop it.

and yeah, see ya 'round bud! and sure, i'll help you anytime you'd like lol

programming eh? One of these days, we might have to collab on something (: I have a ton of ideas XD of course.. Im just an artist lol

omg definitely! with your animation/art skills, anything we make will look amazing lol.

Do you have TF2? :p

nope :<

Assuming that's a nod to the Goonies? You going to school for computer engineering, programming, game design, Web design? Programming is a valuable skill these days.

well its from the electric company, but the goonies referenced it so close enough lol

im going to school for all of em! general computer science, so i'll learn a lot of programming languages and general computer stuff. web design probably doesnt need more than 1 course, its pretty easy, haha.

and yeah, extremely valuable! would've reconsidered my choice otherwise tbh, programming can be pretty stressful
